Turn your tax refund into lasting change

January 1, 2024

Oregon’s blueprint for a brighter future starts with you

Tax season is officially underway in Oregon. Help us create a lasting impact in communities across the state with one simple action — a donation through the Oregon Charitable Checkoff. You can designate all or part of your refund to Habitat using the simple process below.

Your generosity helps fuel the mission of Habitat for Humanity — the belief that everyone deserves a safe, stable and affordable place to call home. Amidst rising costs and other challenges, Oregon’s 24 local Habitat for Humanity organizations continue to expand access to affordable homeownership and critical home repairs, collectively building 68 homes and completing 377 repairs over the last year. But together, we can do even more.

Kick it forward!

The State of Oregon has confirmed the largest surplus credit in its history for the 2021-23 biennium, triggering a record $5.61 billion “kicker” for the 2023 tax year. Oregon taxpayers will see funds returned to them as a credit on their 2023 tax returns filed in 2024. Taxpayers can donate their tax refund to any of the 29 charities approved by the Oregon Charitable Checkoff Commission, including Habitat for Humanity.

How it works

Follow these simple instructions to designate all or part of your refund:

  • Step 1: Download the Oregon Income Tax Form: 2023 Schedule OR-Donate
  • Step 2: Fill in your donation amount on line 6 (page 1). Make sure to fill in line 30 (page 3) with your total donations.
  • Step 3: Attach the completed document to your Oregon Income Tax Forms.

Thank you
